The main objective of the training is to bring about a desired level of knowledge, skill and attitude amongst the trainees. It aims to impart the right education to the right individual. It tries to bring to the fore the best qualities lying dormant in the trainees. The training curriculum of the academy comprises of comprehensive indoor and outdoor programmes. The indoor training programme of the academy is subdivided into basic courses and short term/ specialized training courses. The Indian Police Service probationers allotted to the U.P. cadre undergo state orientation course for four weeks at the academy. Deputy Superintendent of Police, Asstt. Prosecuting Officers, Distt. Commandant (Home Guards), Chief Fire Officers, Assistant Radio Officers, Police Motor Vehicle Officers, directly recruited by the U.P. Public Service Commission complete their basic course here. The Deputy Collectors directly recruited by the U.P. PSC also undergo one week police training at the Academy. Officers from other services of the State Govt. and the Central Bureau of Investigation of Govt. of India are also imparted training from time to time. Other important training programmes at the academy are various short term /specialized courses, which are organized for officers of the rank from sub Inspectors to Addl. S.P.
The outdoor training programme aims at the development of optimal physical capabilities amongst the trainees in all its aspects. Its' important components are P.T., Parade, Yoga, Judo/ Unarmed Combat, Horse Riding, Swimming, Obstacle and Assault course, Jungle training and Arms training. Further, training in technical subjects like Wireless and Motor driving is also being imparted. Besides adventures sports like rafting etc. are also encouraged.
